2020 State Convention Cancelled

The following message was sent to all advisors on March 26, 2020

Dear Illinois Student Council Advisors,

It is with a broken heart that I send you this message this morning.  The 2020 IASC State Convention is officially CANCELLED.  While we are saddened at having to take these steps, this is a difficult, but necessary, decision to keep our students, advisors, and local communities safe as we all work to flatten the curve and follow CDC issued guidelines.

Refunds
All convention registration fees paid to the IASC for this year's convention will be refunded to your school.  This will take some time as I have not had access to my school mailbox to retrieve your confirmations and checks.  Please be patient, but rest assured that a refund will be coming back to your school sent to your attention.

If you are an approved Service Project school that sent in your $25 donations, please email at kgordon@cusd.kahoks.org and let me know if you would like a refund (refunds can only be made to schools) and where to send it, OR would you like to be credited for the 2021 convention.

Hotel Rooms
Please contact the Wyndham to cancel your hotel rooms.  Online reservations can be cancelled on their website, or you can call the hotel directly at 217-789-1530 to cancel.

2020-2021 State Board
The advisors on the state board are working to develop a plan on how to appoint the next state board.  We will ensure this is a transparent process for all candidates who have gone through the credentials process and more details will be provided in the coming weeks.

I am truly heartbroken over this. If I could wave a magic wand and make this all go away I certainly would. I am so very sorry that things have come to this.  I thank you all for your time and service. I thank you all for your heart. I thank you all for sharing your talents with your kids and the IASC this year. Even though we can’t have a convention this year I want to leave you with this final thought that I was going to close convention with: “There are always people telling you that this or that is the key for you to unlock whatever you want in the future. Don’t buy into any of that. For it is you and you alone that is the key to unlocking "Your Happily Ever After." So leave this room today and go live your dreams. Live your truth. Live your life. And always remember to go after and find Your Happily Ever After.”

God bless and stay healthy my friends.

If you have any other questions, please contact me at kgordon@cusd.kahoks.org.

On behalf of all of us at the IASC, thank you for your dedication and commitment to your students during these trying times.
