IASC Partners with Feeding Illinois

Posted: Feb 4, 2023

As we start 2023, it is a great time to announce that the IASC will be partnering with Feeding Illinois for our Service Project this year!  Feeding Illinois connects various food banks and organizations across the State, much like our very own IASC.  In Illinois alone, over one million people are facing food insecurity. This number has only grown, and it may even be someone you know. We have structured this project to be multifaceted, and both options will go a long way to helping our State.

There are two different options to help participate! You can choose one (or both!) that fit your individual school's needs: In-person service and an online donation drive.

The in person option is the traditional way of volunteering time and energy into causes you believe in!  These opportunities can be organized by your local schools and help your local communities, directly giving back to the communities we are a part of.

The second option is an online donation drive. This is available through a special webpage at feedingillinois.org/iasc.  Any school or individual can donate and contribute!  You can fundraise, advertise, or a whole host of other options that suit your school, and each dollar raised will provide 10 meals to hungry families in our State.

We’ve crafted these options to give schools the flexibility to work how they need to work.  It all depends on what your school and community can give. Toss ideas around your local councils, make a committee dedicated to the State service project, or go to your administration if you need! Any help will go a long way to helping those in our state.  Upon completion of your project, please submit a validation form to earn credit for your service.  Participating schools will be recognized at the State Convention in May.

Remember that EVERY donation, whether monetary or volunteer hours, and no matter how big or small, helps someone!  If you have questions, pleae contact IASC President David Izzo, at president@illinoisstuco.org, or visit our dedicated Service Project webpage.
